TESTIMONIALS

"With the 2011 BK 5K funds we received, we were able to purchase items such as a 35 Module Block Set, Module Block Trolley, Rainbow Barrell, Foam Trapezoid, Beast Ground Climber and Kaplan Clubhouse Climber to promote active healthy and adaptive play. The items have been a great addition to our Family Fun Center!"

-Deb Kohner, Youth & Family Director
Winona YMCA

"With your help, each of our site based programs (W-K, Lewiston Altura, Madison and Jefferson Schools) have totes with new toys for matches to use when they meet! The toys they were using before dated back to 2000. Thanks to the BK 5K for supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters. These might be just toys; but they are being used while lifelong friendships are being made!!"

-Shauma Meyer, Program Director
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Region

RACE AGAINST YOURSELF
Don't have a Personal Record? Calculate one here.

In the BK 5K, you're not just competing against the competition -- you're competing against yourself. In addition to awards for first-place finishers, there is an award for each person who achieves a personal record (PR) during the race. To qualify for a PR award, simply register with your personal best 5K time and try to beat it. An award will be presented to each participant who beats his or her registered PR. Your PR must be entered in your registration form in order to qualify.

How to calculate your PR
If you are a runner older than age 40, your PR is adjusted for your age. A race day award goes to each participant beating his or her PR (PR must be provided in registration). If you are age 40 or younger and know your PR, enter that value in the registration form. If you are age 40 or younger and don't know your PR, enter 25 minutes if you are male and running, or 30 minutes if you are female and running, or 40 minutes if you are walking. If you are age 40 or older, do the same thing but add 25 seconds to your PR for each year over age 40.

Example Age
Situation 40 and Younger 41 42 43 44 45
PR is 18:14 18:14 19:19 19:44 20:09 20:34 20:59
Woman, running, unknown PR 30 min 30:25 30:50 31:15 31:40 32:05
Man, running, unknown PR 25 min 25:25 25:50 26:15 26:40 27:05
Walking, unknown PR 40 min 40:25 40:50 41:15 41:40 42:05
